
Abstract
Builting around basic questions like “how the social transformation in modern society of East Asia is influencing publicity transition” and “what kind of public infrastructures are needed to support harmonious social development in east Asia”,selecting the social transformation and its social consequences of South Korea,which is less concerned by Chinese sociologist,as research object,this book digs into the logic of South Korea’s Publicity Transition behind its social transformation after the Second World War,which may be an important reference frame to see East Asia’s modernization dilemma and new choices. The purpose of this book is to go beyond existing Korean studies which focus on regional economy,polity and culture,as well as traditionally regarding western countries or Japan as a single reference sample,and to promote the logic behind South Korea’s social transformation to a sociological perspective of comprehending new social development patterns in east Asia.
Specifically,this book considers that publicity and social development are closely connected in regard to ontology and epistemology. There is a one-to-one correspondence between visibility,openness,integrity,subjectivity,interactivity,balance,life feature of the publicity and the fundamental content,scope,immanent request,direction,impetus,and new trend of the social development. Therefore,this research chooses China and South Korea,the coma exogenous type modern countries,as a sample project,to see the public crisis and structural problems brought by their social transformation,based on the internal connection of publicity and social development. This book suggests that the publicity of modern East Asia should follow a theoretical and practical logic of converting from the antagonistic publicity to a proportional one,which emphasizes that under the State-Market-Society frame,the relationship of different subjects,including national states,civil groups,political groups,union groups,the populace and social classes should,with using an accommodating oriental wisdom,guarantee a mutual understanding and forgiveness of each other while safeguarding their rights and interests at the same time,instead of being in a binary,confrontational,and competing state,as a substance of the proportional publicity. The construction of a proportional publicity is of great ontological and methodological significance,which is going to be the core theory and practice content of East Asian new developmentalism,as well as an important carrier of the modernity in social development of East Asia.
